Cookie Dough Ornaments
- 1 cup salt
- 2 cup flour
- 1 cup water
Directions:
Mix together flour and salt and slowly add water a little at a time.
Knead dough for about 8 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
Roll dough 1/4 inch thick and then use cookie cutters.
At the top of the cookie shape, put in a hole for hanging.
To attach small buttons, smooth on a little water, then put on.
Bake at 325 degrees until light brown for about 30 minutes.
First color with bright magic markers.
Once cool you can varnish.
Cinnamon Ornaments
Cinnamon Ornaments
Makes 1 dozen ornaments
- 3/4 cup apple sauce
- 1 4.12 oz. bottle ground cinnamon
Directions:
Mix the applesauce and cinnamon to form a stiff dough.
Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut with cookie cutters.
Make hole for ribbon.
Put on rack to dry for several days, only occasionally turning.
Decorate with tube paints and glitter.
Clay Ornaments

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 1/2 cup cold water
- christmas cookie cutters
- shellac
- ribbons for hangers
Directions:
Mix flour and salt together.
Slowly add cold water while stirring until soft dough forms.
Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, adding a small amount of water or flour, if needed.
Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
Use cookie cutters to cut dough.
On ungreased baking sheet, place ornaments 1 inch apart.
With a drinking straw, punch “hanging holes”.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees and bake for 30 to 45 minutes (depends on size of ornaments)
When completely cool, you may paint ornaments with tempra paints or leave natural.
Coat ornaments with shellac.
Note: Dough will keep indefinately if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
